Biography:


The author or editor of a number of books, including two which reviewers have termed the definitive works in their fields, Mysterium and Mystery, and Chanting Down Babylon, and well over 200 published articles, stories, reviews and poems, Dr. William David Spencer is recipient of several prizes for writing, including the Golden Halo Award for Outstanding Contribution to Literature of the Southern California Motion Picture Council (SCMPC), the Earl Bargainner Award of the Popular Culture Association of America, 12 editorial awards and a writing award from the Evangelical Press Association (EPA), and writing awards from WABC Radio and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is listed in Contemporary Authors as well as in several Who's Who compilations and has been awarded lifetime achievement awards from Who’s Who in America and Christians for Biblical Equality. He was also awarded the Nancy Higginson Dore Prize for education from Rutgers University and the Samuel Robinson Foundation Prize at Princeton Theological Seminary. He was the valedictorian of his Th.D. graduation class at Boston University School of Theology. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), since 1966, he has done urban ministry, college chaplaincy, music and coffee house, literacy and volunteer prison ministries. Since 1974, he has also been teaching graduate level classes as an adjunct at several seminaries. He is Founding Pastor of Encouragement of Pilgrim Church, a storefront ministry in Beverly, MA.
